Ink & Pencil on cotton paper

This is one of a series of Copper & Black images I have been working on. I make my initial ink washes with metallic ink; black and copper/bronze and watch how it dries. Ink is a wonderfully contrary medium. It will do it's own thing, dry of it's own accord and is entirely unforgiving. The colors derive from that low Winter sun when the dried up ferns and reeds are shining gold against the dark black peaty soil.
