Statement

My artistic vision is rooted in the exploration of courage and its erosion caused by the pervasive influence of fear in our society.. Consequently, through painting, drawing, and linoprint, I strive to capture the essence of individuals who exhibit both resilience and vulnerability within serene surroundings.

The core of my artwork lies in the exploration of personal struggles conveyed through casual conversations, intertwining with an understanding of psychological mechanisms. I deliberately omit explicit narratives, focusing instead on portraying what we can't avoid: the emotional aftermath.

I often begin by jotting down words or sentences and sketching shapes and symbols that represent nonverbal cues as tangible entities. I consistently compose my pieces in a close-up view of the scene, as if I were living within it. As a frugal painter, I carefully select only a few drawings to translate into paintings, rarely employing more than five different tubes of colours. I devote considerable time to mixing colours, aiming to infuse them with the essence of love—something special and irreplicable. Paradoxically, I often neglect the painting stage itself, as I believe that motion evokes emotion. Thus, I achieve a closer emotional connection by applying paint at high speed, seeking to capture the rawness of the reaction.

Through my representations of courage, resilience, and vulnerability, my paintings become a celebration of the pursuit of happiness. Even if it may seem "too good to be true", I have made a conscious decision to make the process of attaining the golden mean visible and, therefore, real.

Biography

My practice examines the "after-time", the psychological space in which the significance of an experience becomes apparent only after it has passed. I focus on absence, exploring the tension between pursuit and the inherent elusiveness of fulfillment. Rather than seeking closure, my work maps the persistence of longing.

This framework is supported by a disciplined technical approach: a seven color palette. By using three vibrant hues, three muted tones, and white for tonal control, I manipulate depth and perception. I intentionally invert natural atmospheric perspective by placing high-saturation colors in the background, creating a controlled tension that situates the viewer within a considered, non-literal space.

As a work nears completion, I introduce deliberate, disruptive brushstrokes. These marks preserve a sense of incompletion and maintaining a state of suspension that reflects the enduring nature of absence.
